Marriage License Application

Public Marriage Application

Marriage licenses may only be issued to unmarried parties who are at least 18 years old. This license can be used anywhere in the state of California. It requires one person other than the person solemnizing the ceremony to witness the marriage. The form provides a place for a second witness, if desired, but one witness is required.

Confidential Marriage Application

Confidential marriage licenses may only be issued to unmarried parties who are at least 18 years old and have been living together as spouses at the SAME address. With a confidential marriage license, you must be married within the state of California. No witnesses are necessary for the marriage ceremony. The confidential marriage license is a private record and not open for public inspection. Certified copies of the marriage license and certificate may only be issued to the couple, or a party with a court order.
